This home was completely gutted and remodeled. We also added a master suite and a garage in the back.
The focal point was the kitchen remodel. We opened up all the walls and and created a big, comfortable island between the kitchen and the living room. It functions as a serving counter for the dinner parties, as well as it provides a great place to hang out.
Beautifully custom patina cabinets add a warmth and comfort to the space. A translucent walnut stain is paired with a wash of silver grey to form the base for the dominant color scheme. The white Calacatta quartz counters offer just the right amount of contrast and the multicolored glass tile backsplash adds movement to the quiet space. The practical butcher block island serves as both, a place to chop veggies and a place to have a glass of wine.
The new garden window and adjacent sliding glass door offer ample light into the space. The high, industrial faucet along with the matching hot and cold spout anchor the sink. The insta hot is a popular feature around the house. The easy to care for travertine floors are laid out in the Versaille pattern. Their pleasant brown/silver tones add a rustic flair and pull in all the hues of the color scheme. The pineapple pendant lights complete the warm glow and comforting style.
The oven/microwave combo is located on the other side of the island. The Ge oven features a double door for ease of operation. Adjacent to the kitchen is the butlers pantry, which in turn opens up to the dining room. The island is the center point to the social circle that was created around it.
The butler’s pantry also includes a wine rack and a beverage station. It is the perfect place to serve drinks and hang out at the dining table or island bar.
Marlow is ready to go.
A pool table room completes the social circle of the great room. Once the garage, we opened up all the walls and incorporated the space within the main space. Overall, the house opened up to be a hub for gatherings, wine parties and fun festivities.
The color scheme continuous through out the house. It gives the home a sense of unity and calm. The sage green walls in the master bath add a feeling of harmony and relaxation to the space.
The great big shower offers comfort and peace. The warm, travertine colored walls introduce a masculine feel, which is offset by the white Calacatta quartz on the seat and elegant polished nickel features. Practical, comfortable and inviting, it creates a warm atmosphere for the daily shower.
Matching his and her vanities complete the look.
A barndoor was the practical solution for the tight hall way space. It allows some light to spill into the dark hall.
The added master bedroom has vaulted ceilings and embraces the warm and comforting color scheme as well.
Overall, the house is unified by its warm and comfortable color scheme. Soft browns, beiges, silver and green create a rustic, and yet modern look. This house is a home to be enjoyed, lived in and embraced in.
SPECIAL KITCHEN FEATURES
We has so much fun designing the kitchen and we added some useful and practical features to aid with the daily chores.
Pull out for doggie food with integrated drawer for leashes and treats.
This is a great space to store the big bag of dog food and all the doggie essentials. I think it is valuabe to have a designated place for all these items.
Breadboard pull outs
The client requested as many breadboard pull outs as possible. They are invaluable for extra chopping and cooking space. I love these pull outs, as they add so much in terms of functionality and extra cutting space.
Mixer pop up
I try to incorporate the mixer pop up in every kitchen. Typically, mixers are clunky, hard to maneuver and harder to store. They take up a lot of counter space, and are most often not the most attractive feature in the kitchen. I love the pop up. Here the mixer is readily plugged in and easy to use and put away.
Creative pendants
Kitchen pendants add personality and style to the kitchen. Here you can play and let your unique taste come to light. These warm, amber light pineapple fixtures add so much charm to the space.
Knife and utensil storage
This pull out houses knives, and assorted utensils in stainless steel bins. It is a great way to store all the items, so they do not clutter the counters and they are easily accessed whenever needed. The house favorite is the knife storage that consist of a type of memory foam that keeps the knives in place.
Insta Hot
The instant hot is one of these items you think you don’t need until it is there. It is perfect for the cup of tea, or the quick cup of coffee in the morning.
Integrated wine rack
The integrated wine rack combines functionality with fun. It is a great feature when you entertain, or in general if you enjoy a glass of wine in the evening.
Fun and practical features add a persona touch to your kitchen, and they are making the space truly yours. It pays off to spend some time researching and examining your daily routine and find the added comfort items that can assist in your daily task.
